What is For the Greater Good?

For the Greater Good is a 24-hour day of giving April 22-23, noon to noon, for the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Nebraska Medicine to raise money for student scholarships, college innovation funds, patient support, research and other critical resources. We’re encouraging donors to support For the Greater Good by offering lead challenge and matching gifts. With so many important areas to support at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine we hope you will find and donate to the cause that means the most to you.

What your sponsorship supports

Challenge Donors are critical in ensuring the success of For the Greater Good by growing awareness for the event as well as by helping to secure donor support through challenge funding.

Ultimately, your sponsorship supports UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. Sponsors can choose to support any of the different areas at UNMC or Nebraska Medicine and that support will, in turn, be leveraged to provide incentives for other donors to get involved and make a difference.

Your support will:

  • Increase the visibility of For the Greater Good, UNMC and Nebraska Medicine;
  • Motivate other donors to get involved and give back to UNMC and Nebraska Medicine;
  • Build momentum for your favorite program and future engagement with supporters

To be a Challenge Sponsor

  • Donors can be individuals, organizations or businesses. They can be named or anonymous.
  • A commitment of a challenge gift is needed. Challenges begin at $500. 
  • A challenge structure. There are two options:
  • Donor count challenge: We highly encourage this structure, as it maximizes the aim of engaging new alumni and supporters. An example would be: “If 100 people give to the College of Allied Health Professions during For the Greater Good, $2,500 will be unlocked.”
  • Dollar for dollar match: This option is also available. “During For the Greater Good our challenge donor will match the first $1,000 donated to the NICU."

What's in it for challenge sponsors?

  • All challenge gift sponsors will be recognized on the For the Greater Good website.
  • If an organization or business sponsors, a logo and website link can be included on the For the Greater Good webpage.
  • Challenge gifts are gifts to the NU Foundation, so they are fully tax-deductible charitable gifts.
